Captain Mittens Goes to Sea

Captain Mittens had never seen the sea, but he owned a cardboard box, and that was enough.

Each afternoon he set sail across the hallway, steering past the dangerous Sock Reef and the treacherous Vacuum Cleaner Cove. His crew was a single stuffed mouse named First Mate Squeak.

One day a great storm struck: the dog ran by, and the box tipped over. Mittens tumbled onto the carpet, and Squeak was lost under the radiator.

But a true captain never abandons his crew. With one heroic paw, Mittens fished Squeak back out, set the box upright, and sailed on toward the kitchen, where, legend says, the tuna is endless.
